  • Around 90% of people with type 2 diabetes are obese, so weight loss is an essential part of managing the condition. As type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance are linked closely to excess weight, dramatic improvements can be seen in your condition if you lose enough – even a small amount will reduce your risk of developing heart disease and long-term diabetes complications.

All About Weight D2 is a portion-controlled, reduced calorie, low fat, low GI eating plan designed to help people with type 2 diabetes achieve meaningful weight loss. It does not treat or cure diabetes, and is not a substitute for diabetes medication(s).

It is designed by dietitians to control your blood sugar whilst you lose weight.

D2: Why is your weight important?

Weight is a significant factor in the development and management of type 2 diabetes – 90 per cent of people with diabetes are overweight at diagnosis.

Reaching and maintaining a healthy weight has huge benefits for your health, and if you have type 2 diabetes you can see the benefits really quickly at home or your next check up. These can include:

    • Lower blood glucose and fewer symptoms associated with high blood sugar
    • Lower cholesterol
    • Lower blood pressure
    • Lower triglycerides
    • More energy
    • Reduction in medications

Losing between 5 and 10 per cent of your weight (that’s 5 to 10 kg if you are 100 kg, or about ¾ to 1 ½ st if you are 15 st) has health benefits.

All About Weight D2 plan is designed especially for people with diabetes. Unnecessary carbohydrates are reduced to optimise your blood glucose control and aid weight loss but it is not a low carbohydrate diet.

You eat regularly, choosing from nutritionally balanced Mealpaks, portion-controlled chef-prepared meals, healthy meals and snacks taken from a list of foods that keep you full and help to control your blood sugar. This provides all the protein, vitamins, minerals, essential fats and fibre your body needs and gives you consistent weight loss and real improvements to your health and diabetes that you will soon see, and feel.

The All About Weight D2 plan:

    • Is based on regular meals and healthy snacks
    • Contains only low GI carbohydrate foods diabetes uk logo 130x100

    • Keeps you well hydrated

As recommended by dietitians for people with diabetes.
