Here are some useful hints and tips contained in the booklet.
If you must have a drink
- Having one glass of bubbly just like celebrities do really helps to make you feel full.
- Avoid creamy liqueurs after dinner; instead, try a single shot of brandy.
- Try to avoid cocktails and large quantities of beer and cider.
- Avoid port, sherry and other fortified wines.
Watch out how much oil you use
Don't smother your turkey with oil, butter or lard - try using a pastry brush and a light coat of oil, and remember that 1 tablespoon of oil has 12g of fat in it! Remember to remove ALL the skin. If you are going to use the turkey juice to make the gravy, drain off the fat first. Cover the turkey with lean bacon. Don't have any more than a 160g portion (2 slices) with your meal, and fill up on vegetables.
All About Turkey
Turkey is one of the best options when you are on any weight loss programme as it is full of protein, low in carbohydrates and packed with many other nutrients including zinc. Zinc keeps your immune system in great condition. Turkey is lower in fat than other meats, so a 100g serving of roasted, skinless turkey comes in at a really healthy 150 calories.
Getting some excercise
Go Christmas shopping! Walking around in a large mall or shopping centre makes for great activity and great fun. You just can't get a better activity combination!
Try the old standard - park your vehicle a distance from the building and walk. Yes, it's an old tip but still one of the best. On your walk to the store, think about the things you want to purchase (your gift list).
