How we lose weight ...
The Facts
All our energy comes from the food we eat. If you eat more than your body needs, it is stored as fat. If you reduce calories or burn calories, your body uses its stored fat to make up the difference.

Here are the calories per gram of food :-

carbohydrate 3.75 calories
  fat 9 calories
  protein 4 calories
  alcohol 7 calories

Exercise and a change of lifestyle is important to keep your weight off long term, there is no doubt that increasing your exercise has huge health benefits, and exercise is brought into all W8 Programmes from week 5 onwards in a gradual way.

When you start a low calorie diet (LCD) we ask that you carry on doing what is normal for you; please don't 'go mad' and start doing major exercise routines if you are not used to this, we are reducing your calories and then slowly building your exercise in after week 5 - this is the safest option.
